The Gordon-Lee House, one of the South's older and more gracious ante-bellum mansions was completed in 1847 by James Gordon. Located in the Chickamauga Battlefield arena, the home served the Union Army first as headquarters and then as its main hospital during the bloodiest two days in American history when 37,000 Civil War troups became casualties. The house is now a national historic site.

This period pianoforte is a part
of the authentic furnishings in the parlor which served as
headquarters for the Army of the Cumberland. General Rosecrans
and his staff plotted their strategy in this parlor.

The Library is now a quiet place
to relax or read. Following the bloody two days of the Battle of
Chickamauga, this room served as the primary surgical site.
