Let us not be disturbed by the lay element, however and wherever it exists. Orthodoxy is not endangered by anything. Of her own accord She goes forward, through time, through the centuries, through the milennia, like a glacier she moves mountains, shaken but "not engulfed", as the blessed Chrysostom says. And just as the eye cannot accept any foreign object, no matter what we put in it – the eyeball will move, the fluids will well up and wash out anything that doesn’t belong there – so the Church is not endangered.
Let us be the carpet under everyone’s feet… We stay this way forever, "in those things of which we have been assured" (II Tim. 3:14), and we keep silence, without waiting for anything; God knows.
