“I am black, but beautiful, ye daughters of Jerusalem, as the tents of Kedar,
as the curtains of Solomon” (Song of Songs 1:5).
“…So, our every encounter with every person has the same weight, the same meaning, the same essence as every personal meeting of theirs with Christ. Our encounter with each particular human being, our every word, each concrete case. The problems, the gordion knots, the magic spells of the whole world can only be resolved with the person involved, the one with whom you have the problem. Christ says, “When you have something against someone, or someone has something against you, go and find him, cleanse your heart before the sun sets” (Mat. 5:23-24). And then redemption springs forth from that relationship, from dealing with the other, no matter who it is, even the devil himself, when he pursues our souls like Job’s; then all the problems will be solved. Then the heart will be liberated. Then the forgiveness of sins wells out.
And as one hand washes the other and both together the face, so, immediately, right behind that other person God will surrender Himself to us.”
From the Homily by our Elder, the Very Reverend Archimandrite Dionysios, on the Second Sunday of Lent, March 11th, 2001, in our Holy Monastery.

Nevertheless, there are two or three very simple things that I cannot keep concealed, things about which this tonsure of ours gives me occasion to think. I said that he is from among the first, or rather, the last to take the Great Schema from among those who first ascended the Rock of Saint Athanasios of Meteora. In continuation, we all arrived high up here, a second monastery was established, and then a third, and most of us are now gathered here, united as one true family, having been united by our common, shall we say, journey, which began about the time that Father Dionysios had ascended to enter the monastery.
