THE GREEK REPUBLIC
SACRED METROPOLIS OF PARONAXIA
THE METROPOLITAN

Naxos, February 21, 2001

“Gerontissa.

It’s a fact that the Sacred Monastery of the Holy Cross constitutes a spiritual oasis in the wider area of Thebes, but also a real miracle to behold. It constitutes a wondrous gift of God, as much for your Elder as for your sisterhood, that the difficulties and trials are outflanked, and the Monastery is shown forth as a model Monastic-Spiritual Center with pan-orthodox dimensions, since in its bosom exercising the ascetic life are Nuns from different ethnological origins, but holding the common faith of our fathers in the One God in Trinity, worshipped in accordance with Orthodoxy.
Our fervent wish is that the Sacred Monastery continue in the many branches of its work, through the blessings of the Eminent Friend of Monasticism, the Metropolitan of Thebes & Levadeia Ieronymos, the prayers of your Elder and the supplications of the devout Christians, its friends and pilgrims.

Wishing you well.”
        †Ambrose, Metropolitan of Paronaxia

Seeing these our families, of which, as I said, the first phase of their course is as if completed with the tonsure of Father Dionysios, how is it possible for us not to realize that it is God himself who governs our history, our family; that it is God who governs our hearts and who leads all things, not to some earthly end, but ultimately to the Kingdom of the Heavens? This is undoubtedly because God does all things. Who brought us to the Mount named Holy? Who is it that initiates us into the hidden mysteries of God? Who is it that places us within the beauty of the spiritual life? Who guides us unto the Eternal Kingdom? Undoubtedly, it is God alone. It is God, indeed, whom one can truly see in the life of Father Dionysios, as well as in the life of our entire family. The service of the Great Schema puts it beautifully when it says that it is “God who has led our brother unto the spiritual life.”
