“It is the day of Resurrection, let us shine forth, O peoples: Pascha, the Lord’s Pascha. For from
death to life, and from earth to Heaven has Christ our God transported us, singing the triumphal
hymn.” (from the First Ode of the Katavasias, Sunday of Pascha).

“…So that’s why we love monasticism. Because it confirms, with its own witness, that we too can succeed in the little that God asks, since they succeeded in the much. Monasticism is not a challenge for the excellent but a humbling for the mighty. And he who is strong humbles himself. In Holy Week we shall see this. The strong and mighty God will ascend the Cross. He is not afraid of debasement…”

From the homily of the Very Reverend Archimandrite Fr. Philotheos Dedes, Chancellor of the Sacred Diocese of Ioannina, March 24, 2001, in the Holy Monastery of the Annunciation of the Theotokos, Ano Pedina, Ioannina.

It is the response of God to his toils, the response of God to the fact that he loved even the last brother of our monastery so greatly, and we are all witnesses of this love of his and of the vigils he keeps for all flesh, one can say. God rewarded the love of all the brethren who many times felt that our brother was a burden, although later they discovered that it was he who was bearing all the burdens of the brotherhood. Of course he bore them together with others, but he carried so much upon his own shoulders. As a result, God bowed down to all these things and graced him with the Schema. He was central to all the affairs of the brotherhood, and God clothed him with this angelic embellishment, to which nothing in the whole world can be compared.
