Holy Mountain, October 14, 2001.
“Very Reverend Abbess Diodora, and the Sisterhood with You in Christ, grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ.
Upon the universal exaltation of the Holy and Life-giving Cross, also your Patronal Feast, we wish you many good, saving and creative years. On this day in the Divine Liturgy you were commemorated together with your Sisterhood in Christ.
Some months ago we received your letter and were glad. Especially we were happy about your Calendar, which hosts a photograph of the blessed and ever-memorable Monk, elder Gervasios. We sent our fervent Letter of Condolence to the Sacred Monastery of Simonos Petras for his martyric end. May HIS memory be eternal.
We thank you for the honor of your invitation to visit your Monastery. According to your sacred desire, we make mention on your behalf.
Accept some books, the encomia of the Burial Shroud of Holy Saturday.
Whereupon we close paternally with good wishes, I and my companions in Christ”.

Surely I can say that I have loved all of you, from the first to the last, and I have been present with you through both good times and bad; I have felt all the struggles and all the upheavals of your souls. Let me put it better, with a Biblical phrase: “I loved my field, I loved my plot, which God has given me”. And as it says, when you love your pasture, then He gives you lambs; then God gives you sheep, because you cultivate it, you make it a meadow, and the sheep love to come and graze in that meadow.
It seems that God has seen this love. And this is why I feel that at this hour I am living something of that beautiful thing, about which the prophet says: “I slept, I awoke, I slept again and I awoke again”, how many times, often receiving oracles from God, prophesying at times the destruction of Jerusalem, and at still other times the resurrection of Israel from all his enemies, but always coming into communion with God Himself. And he says that: “I slept, I awoke, and I realized how sweet sleep was to me” (Jer.38:26).
