“The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass its master’s crib: but Israel doth not know Me, and the people hath not regarded Me” (Isaiah 1:3).

“… Your Elder was incapable of making a living otherwise and surviving, so he found you all and plays the Elder; he was not the spiritual child of Fr. Panteleimon Kathreptides, as you write in your Calendar, but rather of his Elder Aemilanos…”

Our beloved Dionysios: from the time that you were a small child, God was pleased to call you, to make Himself known to you, that you might love Him. You didn’t need to weep for any former life, passed in vanities, and to say, as the others said, “Alas! for the time that I did not love You!” You always loved Him. He, Who is the expectation of the nations, was ever the expectation of your own heart. “Therefore, keep thyself for Christ”. The Lord’s word ordered His angels to guard you as a sheep for Him, for this hour. So the prophet says, and really, he speaks the truth. Therefore bow this head of yours, struggle in a way worthy of God, become a true martyr of the Lord God, rejoice your father’s heart, fill your brothers with gladness.
Why have you approached, brother ...
