The first Divine Liturgy of the Monastic Sisterhood of the Sacred Monastery of the Invincible Defender in Mexico.

(After the departure of the Sisters for Mexico and the first news of their reception there by the community):

“All these things, and in this case, the Sacred Monastery of the Invincible Defender in Mexico, are blessings of our Elder Aemilianos. When he was speaking, your Elder was seizing the words right out of his mouth. And for all of us brothers of the Monastery, the Elder was a breeze, a breath, the refreshing shade in the Monastery; when most of us were poor boys, then in 1972, he had each of us supplied with second and third sets of clothing, both in Meteora and in Simonos Petras afterwards. Before we were even in time to say whatever we had to say to the Elder, already he himself had fixed everything for us with the Elder. And living that way for so many years, near our Elder Aemilianos, he received much and became filled with Grace. And certainly, the Elder more than loved the Elder. And we see this, in his work now: all these things, all the responsibilities he has, which are so many, are the fruit of our Elder, who, while he was often strict, never ceased to be a Father – a Father for all of us. He was a visionary and he wanted everyone of those beside him to be saints. And the Elder is the same. All these things are the cultivation of our Elder in his children and his grandchildren. Faith, love and obedience to the Elder are our life. And so, you see, from the blessing of our Elder, the Elder Aemilianos, this work spreads out from this Monastery to the ends of the earth.”

Homily by the Very Reverend Archimandrite David, former Simonopetrite, Preacher of the Sacred Diocese of Thebes & Levadeia, 1 March 2000.

In order to see ... I will look first of all at myself. I myself, what am I looking for here and now? It seems to me that something is drawing me. A sensation sweetens my throat more than honey. For the reason befits God, and the commandment is royal, the excellent mouth of the Holy Father would say. And what is greater than such an event? He says all these things about God: God knows, God ordered, and who can stand against Him?
