His Divine Beatitude Ilya II, Catholicos - Patriarch of all Georgia, with our Very Reverend Elder, Archimandrite Dionysios, showing him the colossal new Cathedral Church in his historical see of Tbilisi, on 14 October 2000.

“Very Reverend Archimandrite Dionysios.
We embrace You with Christ’s love and we thank You for Your hospitality to the Nuns representing the Patriarchate of Georgia. Through the present letter we make known to You that on the 14th of October we celebrate the Svetitskhovloba - the patronal feast of the Central Cathedral Church of the Apostolic Church of Georgia, in the holy city of Mitskheta. A multitude of the faithful flock to the Cathedral from all the ends of Georgia in order to venerate the Holy Tunic of our Lord and Saviour.
If possible for You, our desire would be to invite You to visit for a week, in order for You and those accompanying You to participate in the celebration. We belive that Your visit here will reinforce relations between the Churches of Georgia and Greece.

With respect and love in Christ. Ilya II, Catholicos-Patriarch of all Georgia, 22 September 2000.”

Now do you understand what you are doing today?
I shall remind you of the verses that belong to the Saint we are celebrating, that foundation of monastic theology: “Severing your head, how awesome, O Dionysios, and taking it up, you run the rest of the way.”
